101 Battalion (Libya)
101 Battalion, also known as the Tajoura Battalion, is a military insurgent unit in eastern suburbs of Tripoli which is aligned with Haftar and the Libyan National Army. It is particularly associated with the suburbs of Tajoura and Fashloum.
It was led by Abdullah Sassi until his capture in April 2015. There are some claims he was killed, but Libya Dawn sources deny this. Abdullah Sassi was previously involved in the revolution against Gaddafi, in which his sister was killed by pro-Gaddafi forces for subversive activities.
101 Battalion to take its name from the Libyan National Army's 101 Light Infantry Battalion, which was linked to Tajoura.
