The 1988 Donington Superbike World Championship round was the opening round of the 1988 Superbike World Championship season and the first ever in the series. It took place on 3 April 1988 at the Donington circuit in Great Britain.

Roger Burnett took the first ever pole position, with Davide Tardozzi of Bimota winning race 1 and being the first race winner in Superbikes history. Race 2 was won by Marco Lucchinelli of Ducati.

For the first and only time in Superbikes history the race results were combined to determine an overall winner. Lucchinelli won the round, with podiums in both races.
