- Four US-based teams qualify for the 2018–19 CONCACAF Champions League:
- The winner of the MLS Cup 2017;
- The winner of the Supporters' Shield ;
- The regular season conference champion that did not win the Supporters Shield ;
- The winner of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup .
Each qualifier is placed in Pot 3, along with the four Mexican qualifiers. Should a team qualify through more than one method, or should a team from Canada win the MLS Cup, the next best US team in the overall table would take its place.
One Canada-based team qualifies for the Champions League (NOTE: Canadian teams cannot qualify through MLS):
- The winner of the 2017 Canadian Championship
They are placed in Pot 1, along with the three Caribbean qualifiers, the two qualifiers from El Salvador, and one qualifier each from Belize and Nicaragua.
