Amar Dev Amar (A.D. Amar) is a professor of management at the W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University.[1] Dr. Amar has authored over 100 publications in journals and periodicals such as the Organizational Dynamics,[2] Harvard Business Review,[3] IIE Transactions,[4] and European Journal of Innovation Management[5]. In addition to publishing numerous documents, Dr. Amar has taught, consulted, held management positions, and trained managers in industry and public sector undertakings in the United States of America, India, Poland, Russia, and the United Kingdom. Dr. Amar received his Ph.D. from the City University of New York and his MBA from Baurch College after moving to the United States from India.

Academic career

Dr. Amar has received awards highlighting his research work throughout his career. In 2013 he received the Carolyn Dexter Finalist Award[1] of the Academy of Management for his work on the effects of meditation on emotional intelligence and leadership of CEOs. He was also the 2013 Stillman Star of the Stillman School of Business[6] and awarded the 2010 NJBIA Bright Idea Award in Management by NJPRO Foundation of New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) for his publication on leading without authority in the context of knowledge organizations[3] in the Harvard Business Review.

In 1983, Dr. Amar transitioned from Montclair State University to Seton Hall University where he is currently a tenured professor in the management department to teach strategy, operations, and managing knowledge workers, knowledge, and innovation management. Throughout his career, A.D. Amor has traveled to consult for Universities around the world such as Westminster Business School and Moscow Branch-Touro College, in developing management curriculum.[1]

In addition to his numerous articles published in journals and publications, Dr. Amar has authored Managing Knowledge Workers[7], a graduate-level book on knowledge work and organizations.

He was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, The Association for Operations Management, the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences, and the Association for Computing Machinery.

In the 2016 Presidential Campaign, Dr. Amar endorsed Donald Trump[8] saying that "I've been observing his style and management for many years..., there is a kind of unpredictability and a kind of drama. In his actual management and his execution, there is no drama, and there is no unpredictability".[8]
