Alain Hakim (Arabic: آلان حكيم, born 3 May 1961) is the current Minister of Economy and Trade [1] in Lebanon.

Dr. Alain Hakim is a Lebanese politician and banker, currently serving as the Minister of Economy and Trade in Lebanon.[2]

Dr. Hakim is member of Political Bureau of Kataeb Party where he served as President of Business Council from 2011 till 2014.[3]

Dr. Hakim’s career in the banking sector started 1986. He is currently Member of Management Committee at Credit Libanais Group. He is also CEO and board member in several affiliated companies within the same group.[4]

He has kept a close relationship with the academic world since 1989 where he is currently a Chairperson at Faculty of Management as well as a Lecturer at the Superior Institute of Banking Studies (Institut Superieur d’Etudes Bancaires) at Saint Joseph University. Furthermore, Dr. Hakim is also a member of Council of Discipline at Saint Joseph University.

He participates in several academic research studies in the business management field.

Dr. Hakim is also a distinguished fellow at New Westminster College.

Dr. Hakim started his studies at Lebanese American University where he gained a Bachelor of Science in 1986. Then he enrolled in Saint Joseph University in Beirut to do a Master's degree in Business Management in 1990, and then he continued his studies to obtain a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Management (Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies) in 1997. He finished his education with a PHD in Business Management from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.

Dr. Alain Hakim believes that the role of the economy is to benefit the welfare of its citizens through the protection and promotion of their economic and social well-being.

His actions under his mandate as Minister of Economy and trade revolve around this idea, where he encourages reforms that aim to increase competition in markets, protect the consumers, and create job opportunities for the youth.[5]
