American InterContinental University South Florida Campus
American InterContinental University South Florida Campus is a location of American InterContinental University, a for-profit university, located at 2250 N. Commerce Parkway, Weston, Florida. Operating in Broward County since 1998, AIU’s new, main South Florida location opened in 2003 in Weston. The 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2), four-story learning facility features modern technology, media equipment and industry-current learning labs.
AIU offers bachelor’s degree programs in business administration, information technology, criminal justice, visual communications, media production, game design and development, interior design and fashion marketing and design. Master’s degree programs include business administration, informational technology and education in instructional technology.
Other Locations: Buckhead and Dunwoody in Atlanta; Los Angeles; Houston; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; London; and AIU Online in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
American InterContinental University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees.
Accreditation Update
In December 2005 American Intercontinental University was placed on probation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the probation period was extended for another year in December 2006 . No reason was given for the extension other than that SACS "...indicated that more time is needed to demonstrate sustainability of certain changes."
On June 21, 2005 the US Department of Education put a freeze on approving new applications for additional campuses or acquisitions while it examines the company's financial records and compliance with federal student-aid regulations. That restriction was lifted on Monday January 22, 2007.
