History
The company was launched on May 28, 2011 as a web based tool to create HTML5 animation and render animated stories. The company was formed as an idea by Dmitry Skavish, when he was looking for online software tools to help his daughter in a homework assignment to create an animation.[3] He realized there was no powerful and user-friendly animation tool available on the Internet to create animated stories. On May 2011, he launched Animatron with seed funding from JetBrains,[1] the Czech software development company.[3] Animatron started working with the team spread across Cambridge, Germany, Ukraine, and California.

It is used on the Animatron website and it additionally provides a community portal, where users can start designing animation.[4] Users of Animatron have profile pages, and premium users have a dedicated online portfolio featuring their creations.[5] The users can choose to share their work in the Animatron’s real time interface by sharing videos with teammates.[6][7] The work is available for download under Creative Commons licenses, this feature places Animatron as an online animation marketplace.[4]
Applications
Besides being used as an animated story, Animatron is also a platform for multimedia motion graphic stories.[8] The program does not require any plugin or a downloadable program. The application is popular in children, young teenagers,[9] marketing professionals and designers, allowing them to produce their own animated short films without any knowledge of coding.[10][11]
