The Arena Nürnberger Versicherung, formerly known as the Nuremberg Arena, is a multi-use indoor arena in Nuremberg, Germany. It hosts sports matches, including ice hockey, handball, and basketball, as well as music concerts. It has a capacity of 8,200 people for sport[1] and 11,000 people for concerts.[2]

History

The Nuremberg Arena opened in 2001. In 2005 it was renamed Arena Nürnberger Versicherung to reflect its sponsorship by a local insurance firm.

In November 1999 World Wrestling Entertainment hosted an event at the arena.

On 7 November 2009, David Haye won the WBA Heavyweight Championship, against Nikolai Valuev, at the Arena, in his first attempt at the heavyweight title. It is the home venue for German Ice Hockey League club, Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers Nürnberg and the German basketball club, Sellbytel Baskets Nürnberg.

The German Basketball League club, Brose Baskets, played Euroleague home games at the arena in the 2005–06 Euroleague season against the Greek League club AEK Athens,[3][4] and during the 2015–16 Euroleague season against the Spanish League club Real Madrid.[5]
