Aymeric Sallin is the founder and CEO of NanoDimension, a nanotechnology-focused venture capital firm with offices in Silicon Valley and Switzerland.
Work at NanoDimension
Recognized as a nanotechnology and innovation leader,[1] Sallin works closely with the business, government and academic communities. In 2010, former Gov. Schwarzenegger honored him as one of the 20 key figures of Silicon to Russia to meet with Russian government and industry leaders, including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.[2][3] Shortly after this trip, Sallin addressed influential members of the United States Congress, business, and academia at the 10th Anniversary of the National Nanotechnology Innovation Summit in Washington, D.C.[4] Sallin is an active board member of several life sciences and physical sciences companies such as View Glass,Crocus Technologies,Selecta Bioscience and Blend Therapeutics. He was instrumental in generating, negotiating, and closing investments totaling several hundred million dollars into several of NanoDimension’s portfolio companies.[5][6]
Accolades
Since 2002, Sallin has actively promoted nanotechnology around the world, receiving the NSTI Fellow Award in 2007[7] and the 2012 EPFL Alumni Award[8] for "his entrepreneurial spirit, his dedication and exceptional contribution to the field of nanotechnology".[9] Sallin is an elected member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders, Class of 2013 and regularly attends the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. He was voted top 20 under 40 in Switzerland by Bilan Magazine[10] and one of Switzerland’s 300 most influential people in 2011,[11] 2012[12] and 2013.[13] Since 2014, he has served as the Chairman of the Board of Alumni of EPFL as well as a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of EPFL.[14] In May 2016, he was elected to the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences "for his outstanding entrepreneurship which has played a decisive role in the creation and subsequent development of extremely high-tech manufacturing companies".[15]
Early Career and Education
Prior to founding NanoDimension, Sallin worked at Bain & Company.
He holds a Masters in Physical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). While doing research on nanostructures, he co-managed a team of professional snowboarders who won more than 10 World and European titles between 1996 and 1998.
Sallin is native from Fribourg in Switzerland, he currently lives with his wife Kelly and three children in Woodside, CA-USA.
