Bánh giầy

Bánh giầy

Bánh giầy (incorrectly[1][2] written as bánh dầy or bánh dày) is a Vietnamese snack. Bánh giầy is a white, flat, round glutinous rice cake with a chewy texture. They are presented in a pair, wrapped in small pieces of banana leaves. They are usually served with Vietnamese sausage giò lụa.[3] But they can also be fried to a thin crispy golden crust, and eaten by itself or with the Vietnamese sausage. Another variation is called "bánh giầy đậu", where the ground boiled mung bean (dậu xanh) - salted or sweetened - is stuffed inside then covered with rice flour. It is very similar to another Vietnamese glutinous rice dish known as Bánh chưng.
