Babai – Abbai is a 1985 Telugu comedy film produced by M. Sudhakar Reddy under Ushodhaya Movies banner, directed by Jandhyala. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Anitha Reddy in the lead roles and music is composed by Chakravarthy. The film is inspired from N. T. Rama Rao's old Telugu Movie Vaddante Dabbu (1954).[2]

Plot

Bala alias Abbai (Nandamuri Balakrishna) & Veera alias Babai (Suthi Veerabhadra Rao) meets in a very crazy situation and starts living together, their lifestyle is to make debts for their survival and escape from lenders. Once Bala meets a girl Krishnaveni (Anitha Reddy) in an accident, daughter of a multimillionaire Vara Prasada Rao (Suthi Velu) and both of them fall in love. Rao assigns a task for Bala by giving huge amount of 25 lakhs and asks him to spend it within the timeline of 30 days and also keeps some conditions that he should not donate or destroy the money. Bala starts the spending the money with the help of his Babai's ideas such as racing, gambling, making a movie, construction of house etc. But their income grows day by day and Bala gets fed-up with this money. Finally, he throws all the money into the sea, at the same time Rao arrives and explains him that he has given this task to study Bala's character and he should also understand how dangerous the money is and movie ends with marriage of Bala & Krishnaveni.
