Blue Ridge High School, also known as BRHS, is a college-preparatory public high school for students, grades 9-12, located in the town of Blue Ridge, Texas (USA). The school enrolls students in grades 9-12. The school colors are spring green and black, and the mascot is the Tiger. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]

Academics

The student to faculty ratio is approxiamtely 10 to 1, and the average class size is 15 students.

The academic program emphasizes Dual-Credit courses and Honors Accelerated courses, offering a handful of courses in both. Blue Ridge High School offers concurrent enrollment courses through Collin College. 70% of Blue Ridge High School students are enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement or concurrent enrollment course, well above the Texas average of 20%.

The average ACT score is 30, while the average SAT score is 1900.

Grades are weighted on a 4.0 scale.

National Blue Ribbon School

Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement. A National Blue Ribbon Schools flag overhead has become a mark of excellence in education recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities.

Blue Ridge High School holds this coveted award for the 2012-2013 Academic Year.

Campus and facilities

Blue Ridge High School is an open campus containing several buildings. The school is made up of two primary academic halls. The first hall houses the humanities, social, natural, and formal sciences. Additionally, the building contains school offices, computer labs, the school library, and the school's dining hall and auditorium (students are required to eat lunch on campus).The secondary hall houses the school's professions and applied sciences. Tennis facilities and the natural science's greenhouse are a short walk from this secondary hall.
