Brian Michael Reed is a conceptual artist working between New York City and Shanghai.

Career

Brian was born in Charleston WV, July 16, 1984. He attended James Madison University from 2002-2006 and Yale University from 2008-2010. In 2009, his installation at The Art Museum of the Americas titled, Bilateral Engagement, opened to acclaim in Washington, D.C. contributing greatly to his career in the Arts. The Washington Diplomat wrote in its article Loud Marriage,

"The artists’ [Brian Michael Reed] clever use of materials also suggests a strong reverence for the environment[1]..."

Brian has hosted many exhibitions in New York’s art gallery scene that generated a flurry of media coverage, do to his innovative art forms.[2][3][4]

The New York Times writes,

"Her nakedness is essential[5]..." in his exhibition titled, Through the Heart of it All, February 2010.

In 2011 his work was exhibited at The West Virginia Juried Exhibition Biennial and received the Merit Award.[6] West Virginia Living Magazine had this to say about Brian:

"At twenty-seven, artist Brian Reed’s accomplishments in the art world are impressive and provocative. His focus on art making is relentless, but his presentation is calm and quietly, albeit intensely, engaging."[7]

Brian Now lives and works between his Studios in New York City and Shanghai. He attends many artist residency programs, Chinaresidencys.com writes,

"Brian Michael Reed is an artist working across a multitude of media who turned a sub-par residency experience into a stepping stone for establishing a successful career in Asia."[8]

Brian's development to international artist was best described in an article by Arte Fuse titled, Brian Michael Reed: Local Artist Gone Global.

"His reputation preceded him as being provocative and making powerful art.[9]"

Brian is now a key opinion leader in the arts and recently was selected to cooperate with Better Homes & Gardens Magazine to speak to the need of art in the home.[10]
