Brosna (Irish: An Bhrosnach)[1] is a hamlet in County Offaly, Ireland. It lies in the valley of the Little Brosna River less than one kilometer off the N62 national secondary road. Brosna is deceptive in appearance;the main road through the village is home to families that have been here for several generations.Farming families and a thriving Plumbing business operate in and around the hamlet. Like all rural areas in Ireland Brosna has some neglected old houses but residents manage to give the place a pretty look with the use of hanging baskets and planted flowers on the bank of the stream that flows through it. At the top of the village a bench awaits walkers or conker collectors in need of a rest or a chat if the day is kind.
Architecture
Brosna House, an early 19th Century two storey house located at the roadside is listed as being of architectural interest. [2] A late 19th Century water pump of cast iron stands in the village. It is listed as being of artistic, social and technical interest. [3]
