Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) was established in 2008 as an autonomous institution under the Societies Act, with active support from the government of Bihar. It is an AICTE-approved and NBA accredited institution, offers a two-year full-time program in Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The institute was established with the objective of contributing substantially to the academic and development credentials of Bihar, while fulfilling the primary role of training students to become effective managers.
It is established on the lines of IIMs and follows most of the practices, systems and processes of leading management institutes in India. "It deserves the status of an IIM," says Dr. S.C. Jha, the economic advisor to the prime minister of India.

Achievements
In a short period of 8 years, CIMP has achieved 100% placement for all the batches. CIMP is involved in research transfer with schools like Lancashire Business School and Stockholm Business School and draws teaching materials from the Harvard Business publishing (a unit of Harvard Business School). It has been declared the first stand-alone educational institute in the country to submit all required information to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), Statistics Division, Department of Higher Education, MHRD, New Delhi. It has organized more than ten national and three international seminars/conferences across the country.

Selection process
Applicants are selected on the basis of CAT, XAT and CMAT scores and are called to appear for Essay test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview/Interaction. Academic profile, and work experience of candidates are also considered for short-listing. Upon aggregating their performance on these grounds, a merit list is prepared and students are selected. IIMs/XLRI have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.
Eligibility
The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) categories], from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
Reservation
The institute follows reservation policy as prescribed by the Government of Bihar for educational institutions. The break-up of reservation policy is as follows:
- General Category – 50%
- SC – 16%
- ST – 01%
- EBC – 18%
- BC – 12%,
- Women of BC – 3%
Amongst all the categories, 50% of the total seats are reserved for students who qualify as a Domicile of Bihar (permanent residents only) and 3% of the total seats for Person with Disability (PWD).
Placement
- 100% placement of the students.
- The participating companies are from diverse verticals like Banking & Financial Services, FMCG, Telecom, Dairy, Research & Consulting, Microfinance, Aviation & Aerospace, Media, IT Services and more.
- Regular recruiters like Tata Advanced Systems, Amul, GIC Housing Finance, Saija Finance, NDDB Dairy Services, NCDEX, Yes Bank, HDFC AMC, HT Media, reaffirmed their faith in the talent nurtured at CIMP.
- The largest recruiter was ICICI Bank for 2014-16 batch which hired students for the position of Deputy Manager followed by HDFC AMC which hired students for Management Trainee positions.
- The job location of placements was not restricted to Bihar alone. Several companies offered positions in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and other cities.

Campus
Located in the heart of the city, the campus is known for its state of the art infrastructure which is entirely Wi-Fi enabled. All classrooms and conference rooms are air-conditioned and are equipped with LCD screens and projectors to stimulate learning and interaction. In addition to the classrooms, the institute has a library, a computer centre, faculty rooms and on-campus hostel, mess and cafeteria facility for students and a separate hostel for married students also. It also has Badminton Court, Table Tennis court and separate Gym facilities for boys and girls. The State of Art Auditorium in the campus makes campus life more attractive. It can accommodate around 500 persons at a time. Auditorium has hosted many programs where eminent personalities including the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, SIDBI chairman Dr. Kshatrapati Shivaji, musical maestro Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar have participated.
