Chapel Field Christian School is a non-denominational K-12 Christian school located in Pine Bush, New York. The school was founded in the year 1979 by William "Coach" Spanjer, Sr. and his wife.[1]
History
Chapel Field Christian High School was formed by Affirmative Evangelism Fellowship, a group of local Christians dedicated to the Christian education of teenagers.
Chapel Field was founded in 1979 as a Christian College Preparatory High School.[2] Its 100 acre campus is located in the hills of New York State's Hudson Valley, close to many academic and cultural establishments, including only one hour away from New York City. It is also near Harvard, Yale, and Princeton Universities, and is close to the United States Military Academy at West Point. The school teaches Kindergarten to twelfth grade, with the Dwaar Kill river winding three quarters of a mile between the Middle/High School and Elementary school buildings.
Chapel Field is accredited by the National Association of Private Schools, and incorporated under the University of the State of New York. Chapel Field is a member of several athletic leagues and music associations, and has been recognized numerous times for outstanding performances in both athletics and music. Athletic teams hold seven New York State Championships. Under the direction of nationally renowned Eric Parks, the school’s concert band, jazz band, and orchestra are the recipients of many awards. The fine arts department is headed by Hudson River artist Doschi Rosa. The school offers many cultural opportunities and experiences ranging from Boston to New York City and Washington, D.C.
Academics
Chapel Field believes that the most important thing about high school is building an excellent academic transcript to present to colleges and universities. The school attempts to do this by offering its students college prep, honors, and advanced honors courses as well as advanced placement and college level courses. The school also encourages students to improve their transcript by participating in a number of activities. Its students are able to build a substantial list of activities to try and impress the colleges and universities to which they will apply, they receive SAT and TOEFL preparation to prepare for university entrance, and they experience a spiritual emphasis which the school believes helps develop the students' character and strong relationships with God.
