Chinese Consulate-General, Chennai

The agreement for establishing the Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Chennai, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu had been signed by the prime minister of India Narendra Modi and Chinese premier Li Keqiang, during Modi's three-day visit to China in May 2015 [1] This desire of China for a consulate in Chennai had been expressed by the Chinese Ambassador to India, Le Yucheng earlier. This consulate would help a large number of tourists from China to the interesting city of Chennai which boasts with its heritage tourism locations. It also helps in improving business and cultural relations between China and Tamil Nadu. Moreover, there are 600 Chinese students in Tamil Nadu, which is even more than in Delhi along with 6 Chinese industrial firms. [2]
