Chloe Linda Daisy Margaret Sims (born 2 November 1981)[1][2] is an English television personality, glamour model and entrepreneur. She is best known for her self-role in the ITVBe reality series The Only Way Is Essex.
Early life
Chloe Sims was born in Newbury Park, London, England,[1] which she revealed in her autobiography, contrary to previous incorrect reports she was born in 1982. When Sims was three, her mother left her with her father. In an interview with Reveal, she said "I might have walked past her in the street before, and I could have brothers and sisters I don’t know about. All I know is she didn’t want to be my mum so she left [...] It’s a weird feeling knowing that I have a mum but not knowing who she is."[3] When she was younger, she was constantly bullied in school. She used to be called "alien" or a "stick insect." She said that "A group of girls told me I looked like I had Down syndrome and were always threatening to beat me up."[3] The bullying got to the point where boys threatened to set her hair on fire.[3] However, she revealed that when she entered a modelling competition, which she won, the bullying stopped.
Career
The Only Way Is Essex
Sims became noticed as one of the cast members in the British ITVBe (formerly ITV2) reality TV series, The Only Way Is Essex. She is the cousin of the other cast mates Joey Essex and Frankie Essex.[4] In the series, she starts to form a close relationship to her now ex-best friend Lauren Pope. Chloe has an on and off relationship with Elliott Wright since series 13. She first appeared in 2011 in series 2 as a supporting cast member until she was fully taken as a primary cast member.
Music
In December 2011, the show's current cast released a cover of the Wham! classic "Last Christmas", with their own unique version of the show's theme song "The Only Way Is Up" as the single's B-side. The original, by Yazz, spent five weeks at number one in 1988. All profits from the single go to Text Santa, a major new charity initiative set up by ITV, which aims to raise money and awareness for a group of charities, including Crisis, Samaritans and Great Ormond Street Hospital.[5]
Personal life
Sims was raised by her father, Boxing Trainer Tony Sims, alongside her half brother Charlie. She has a daughter, named Madison Sims who was born in 2005.[6] Chloe split with Madison's father after she was born.[6]
She has been known for her usage of cosmetic procedures and has been open about this. She revealed that she had lip fillers, which she regretted, saying "I only had fillers because I thought I was getting lines like my nan around her mouth. I realise it was a mistake, though, and won’t be doing it again."[3] In April 2012, she underwent a Buttock lift which cost around £4,500. She revealed she has botox every six months.[7] She explained that the reason why she had cosmetic surgery was because she wanted to feel more 'confident'.
According to the Daily Mail, Sims stated that when she was younger, she battled bulimia.[8]
