Father Cyril Bernard Papali OCD or "Fr. Cyril Bernard of the Mother of God OCD" (1902–1981) was a Carmelite monk of the Manjummel Province. He was born in Cochin, Kerala, India, in 1902.

Work as a monk

Father Bernard was the last monk to hold the position of TOCD in Manjummel. He was later called to Rome to serve in the Vatican, and was assigned peritus to the Second Vatican Council on the question of the laity and non-Christian religions. He also accompanied Pope Paul VI on his journey to the Philippines and India and wrote Hinduism: Religion and Philosophy.

In 1962, he was an Ordinary Professor of Missionology in the Urbanian University, Rome. In 1964, he was a Consultant of Vatican Secretariat for Non-Christians.
