Daytime (Canadian TV series)

daytime is a Canadian television talk show that has become one of the defining shows across the Rogers TV network of local community television stations.

daytime covers a wide spectrum of topics in a 60-minute format, generally described as a local lifestyle show that highlights members of the community. Some of the topics and themes based from community access of the show range from food, cooking, home, decorating, shopping, fashion, health, fitness, entertainment and more.

Local editions

Each edition of daytime is divided and produced by region, as a means to allow members of each community local access. On-air broadcast is limited to the regions they are produced.

Durham Region

In 2007, Daytime was hosted by Jim Bamboulis and Kasia Bodurka. In Fall 2008, Daytime was rebranded as First Local Midday, hosted by Debra Hutchison and Kasia Bodurka.

On September 8, 2009, the show reverted to Daytime and was hosted by Kasia Bodurka and Christian Pritchard. On Monday, February 7, 2011, Kasia ended her tenure as co-host of Daytime. In Fall 2011, Christian was joined by Julia Piedimonte.

In the Fall of 2012, Daytime was streamlined to a single host, and the show was hosted by Dena Chiarcossi.

As of September 2014, the show is hosted by Sarah Newcomb.

Grey County

Hosted by Diane Foulds and Dave Carr.

Produced by associate producer Darlene Vanwyck, daytime has been running live Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Owen Sound since the beginning of the 2005 season.

Host Gloria Hogan died suddenly during the 2007-2008 season.

London

Ottawa boy Derick Fage is both the host and producer of Daytime Ottawa. Derick has always had a passion for acting and entertaining others. Over the past 25 years he has focused on his passion of entertaining, starring in a number of independent films. He’s also a veteran of live theatre, where he has portrayed over a dozen characters. Derick has been the host of Daytime Ottawa since 2004 and took on the added role of producer in January 2014.

Derick enjoys hosting and producing Daytime Ottawa for a number of reasons; the wonderful volunteers working behind the scenes, the friendships he’s made over the years, and meeting the people of Ottawa that make this city a great place to live, work and play.

A self-proclaimed child at heart, Derick is curious about everyone and everything, and it’s this very quality that engages viewers daily on Daytime. Derick thrives on conveying what’s happening in Ottawa to viewers in a fun and informative manner. He considers his job at Rogers TV, his dream job, and feels extremely fortunate to have his dream job in the city he has always called home.

Derick has been featured in a number of magazines including FACES Magazine, Ottawa at Home, Press the Fashion and Pounou.

In 2012, Derick was awarded with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his continuing work in the community and his contributions to a number of charitable organizations. Yvonne Harvey, founder of Canadian Parents of Murdered Children presented the medal to Derick live, on the air. It was completely unexpected and an incredibly humbling experience.

Derick is proud of his work in the Ottawa Community. He has volunteered countless hours for organizations and causes such as, Canadian Parents of Murdered Children, Victims of Violence, LiveWorkPlay, Children At Risk, Dreams Take Flight, The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Tim Horton's Camp Day, The Chrissy Predham Memorial Golf Tournament, The CHEO Teddy Bear Picnic, BARK Ottawa, Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Harmony House, Carefor, The MS Society of Ottawa, The Overbrooke-Forbes Community Resource Centre, The Children’s Wish Foundation,Mothercraft of Ottawa and VOICES Found, to name a few.

Out of the spotlight, Derick enjoys following a variety of sports, reading, acting, music, attending local events and spending time with his beautiful wife Monika, her amazing son Max and his incredible daughter, Chloe.

Oxford County

Relaunched a new version of daytime Oxford in the fall of 2014. Currently hosted by Woodstock city councillor Jerry Acchione and his wife Sara

Peel Region

Hosted by Travis Dhanraj and Deja Gordon

Airs in Brampton and Mississauga. Recurring segments include Nygard Fashion as well as the "Smile File" with Dr. Arun Narang

Simcoe County

Hosted by Melanie Case[1] and Will Nash.[2][3]

Toronto

Hosted by Val Cole (Radio/television personality)[4] and supporting host Shannon Boodram[5]

"Daytime Toronto" returned in the new year with new hosts. The show airs live at 10am and repeats at 3pm, Monday - Friday.

Waterloo Region

From 2001 to 2009, daytime Waterloo Region was hosted by Susan Cook-Scheerer and Mark Paine. In 2009, Paine departed the show and was replaced by Jay Chagnon who co-hosted alongside Cook-Scheerer until his departure in September 2012. Mark Paine returned to the show alongside his longtime co-host after Chagnon's departure. In September 2014, Cook-Scheerer began hosting daytime Waterloo Region single-handedly with expert lifestyle guests appearing on a regular basis.

Join the fun as Susan Cook-Scheerer dishes with guests about all things local - from cuisine and healthy lifestyles, home improvement and events to current affairs and maintaining healthy relationships. "She's got the whole region talking!"

The show airs in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Brantford, Guelph, Wilmot Township, Woolwich Township, Wellesley and Stratford weekdays at 1, 3, 5 and 11 PM.

York Region

Hosted by Jeff Moore and Jacqueline Betterton.

In 2012/2013, Elaine Yim-Spencer temporarily hosted alongside Jeff Moore.

The program airs live at 10am weekdays with repeats at 4pm the same day. Depending where in York Region the viewer is, the program is seen either on channel 10 or 63.

Discontinued/Rebranded Versions

Saint John, NB Region

Hosted by Joshua Britten and Pauline Cronin.

This edition of the show aired from September 2006 until August 2008.

For the 12 final episodes of the 2006 and 2007 year before the Christmas break, re-branded the show "The 12 Daytimes of Christmas" and featured holiday topics in each show.

A three episode series celebrating St. Patrick's Week was produced in 2007.

Also aired in Sussex NB.

St. Thomas

Has since been replaced by a Daily 12pm live show called Inside Elgin.
