Deddy Sutomo (born June 16, 1941) is an Indonesian actor and politician.[1] Sutomo has more popularity in local industry film in the 1970s, through his film Pandji Tengkorak.
Career
Sutomo began his debut career in the film for his debut film, entitled Awan Jingga (1970). Soetomo has starring many local film in various roles, such as Panji Tengkorak (play role as warrior), Atheis (as Muslim student), Mustika Ibu (as Peranakan Chinese people), and many more.
In addition, Sutomo also starred in a television soap opera in the 1980s, Rumah Masa Depan, in which he played the role of Mr. Sukri. However, Sutomo reduced his activities in the local film as he grew older. His last film was Tutur Tinular III in 1992.
Sutomo has tried to be a businessman and was establishing to his business PT. Jakarta Pelangi Production, after decided to leave film. But eventually, Sutomo began his politic career and was nominated as the representatives in the Electoral District of Central Java II. In the 2004 national elections, Sutomo selected to the Indonesian House of Representatives, and are within the commission X in education field.
After not appeared in his activities, Sutomo return to starring in the local film through Maskot (2006). His acted in the religious-themed film Mencari Hilal had winning his first awards category for Citra Award for Best Leading Actor at the 2015 Indonesian Film Festival.[2] Sutomo has awarded in two categories for Best Actor and Best Chemistry with actor Oka Antara at the 2016 Indonesian Movie Actor Awards.[3]
