Des McAleenan was the goalkeeping coach for New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer. Born in Ireland, he was with the MetroStars franchise from 2002 until his firing on 28 February 2011.[1] He played his schoolboy football with Stella Maris. Has coached world-class goalkeepers including Tim Howard, before his move to Manchester United, and US full internationals Tony Meola and Jonny Walker. McAleenan also coached the boy's varsity soccer team at Newington High School in Newington, CT.
