Dianetics: The Evolution of a Science by L. Ron Hubbard is the original article published in Astounding Science Fiction (cover date May 1950) published immediately preceding the release of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health that introduced Dianetics. Dianetics: The Evolution of a Science covers how Hubbard defined the reactive mind and developed the procedures to get rid of it.
In 1955, the article was expanded into a book of the same name (Bridge Publications, ISBN 1-4031-0538-3; not to be confused with the larger and more well-known book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health). The publication includes Hubbard's account of the reasoning behind, and development of, Dianetics, more so than its "sister volumes" DMSMH and Dianetics: The Original Thesis (aka The Dynamics of Life). The book is one of the canonical texts of Scientology.[1]
