Dream is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Angie Stone, released on November 6, 2015 by Shanachie Records in collaboration with Conjunction Entertainment and TopNotch Music.[1] Following short stints with Stax Records and the Saguaro Road label, Stone signed with Shanachie Records Entertainment through an alliance with frequent collaborator Walter Millsap III. Millsap and Stone co-wrote the majority of the album with a core group that included former The Clutch members Candice Nelson, Balewa Muhammad and producer Hallway Productionz.[2][3]
Release and promotion
On May 8, 2015, promotional single "Dream" was released to iTunes Store. The song was featured on "Love of Ruth", a television film by TV1. Later in August, Stone confirmed that her seventh studio album will be released on November. On October 3, the album was made available for Pre-Order on iTunes Store with promotional single "Magnet" open for downloading.
Singles
- "2 Bad Habits" was released as the album's first single on Sep 11, 2015.[4] Its accompanying music video was released on Oct 6, 2015.[5] The song achieved moderate success on Adult R&B chart currently peaking at No. 19.[6]
- On Dec 5, 2015, Stone revealed via her official Facebook page that a second single would be picked up based on a 7-days poll on Singersroom by fans.[7][8] Three options for the second single were "Dream", "Magnet" and "Dollar Bill".
Commercial performance
The album debuted at No. 59 on Billboard 200 and No. 3 at Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums chart, with approximately 9,000 copies sold in the week ending Nov 12, 2015, according to Nielsen Music. This also marks her highest debut on both charts since her fourth studio effort The Art of Love & War in 2007.[9]
