Erin Watts is a fictional character from the BBC espionage television series Spooks, which follows the exploits of Section D, a counter-terrorism division in MI5. She is portrayed by British actress Lara Pulver. The character was introduced in the first episode of the tenth series as the new Section Chief after having served in Harry Pearce's job during his forced leave.
Role in Spooks
Erin was made acting head of the counter-terrorism division in MI5 while Harry was on forced leave following the Albany incident and the death of Section Chief Lucas North. Erin made a mark in Section D by decommissioning Beth Bailey due to her rather sinister past and her actions during the Westhouse operation. She later told Harry that she expected higher standards than that. She was also the one who hired Calum Reed into Section D.
She was forced to step down when Harry was reinstated on a probationary basis but was retained as Section Chief as part of the deal.
Erin appeared in the feature length cinema release Spooks: The Greater Good. Erin met with Harry at Ruth Evershed's grave following the escape of terrorist Adem Qasim during a handover with the CIA. Believing that Qasim was planning an attack on London, Erin had been placed undercover to infiltrate his cell. With his future at MI5 in doubt Harry ordered Erin to walk away as he would have no means or protecting her. Harry went rogue and tracked down Qasim but he had already captured Erin after discovering her true identity. Qasim shot her in the stomach and ordered Harry to kill her and ease her suffering or else he would broadcast her slow and painful death for her family to see. With Harry unable to go through with killing her, Erin pulled the trigger on herself, telling Harry she didn't want her daughter to watch her die that way.
