The redfin darter (Etheostoma whipplei) is a species of darter, where it occupies Gulf drainages from Mobile Bay in Alabama to Neches River in Texas, the Mississippi River basin from Mississippi to southeastern Kansas, eastern Oklahoma and northeastern Texas. It inhabits sandy and rocky pools, sometimes runs and riffles, of headwaters, creeks and small rivers. This species can reach a length of 9.0 cm (3.5 in), though most only reach about 5.5 cm (2.2 in).[2]
