FC Hunedoara | 2009–2016 |
CS Hunedoara | 2016– |
In the summer of 2009, FC Hunedoara was founded, to keep alive the football in Hunedoara. Not to be confused with its predecessor Corvinul Hunedoara, or SC Corvinul 2005 Hunedoara, however the club is still considered a phoenix club despite no legal continuity between the three.
They currently play in the Liga IV, after finishing 5th in the Liga III, Seria IV in the 2015–2016 season. Four years in a row FC Hunedoara missed promotion by a slight margin. The team was excluded from Liga III in the summer of 2016 because of financial problems. The team was enrolled in Liga IV and renamed as CS Hunedoara.[3]
