Fareham Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Fareham, Hampshire, England.
The school was originally known as St. Annes school prior to becoming Neville Lovett Community School. The school converted to academy status on 1 September 2013, and was renamed Fareham Academy. Fareham Academy is a converter academy, which means that it voluntarily opted to become an academy as a previously maintained school in the Hampshire Local Education Authority. Only schools deemed to be 'Good' or better, with strong leadership are able to convert. The Academy has autonomy from the Local Authority and receives its funding directly from the Department for Education. As a converter academy, it has autonomy to teach its own curriculum to personalise its curriculum to its students.
In recent years, the school GCSE results have improved significantly and has been the subject of newspaper articles [1] and BBC South Today news reports.[2] The academy has achieved a 'Good' rating in its last two Ofsted inspections. The most recent Ofsted was carried out in February 2016 under the new, more rigorous Ofsted framework.
In August 2014, Fareham Academy celebrated its best GCSE results ever, with 70% A*–C including English and Maths.
