Felt is an upcoming American spy thriller film directed and written by Peter Landesman. The film is based on the true events about an FBI agent, Mark Felt, who became an anonymous source ("Deep Throat") for reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, and helped them in the investigation which led them to the Watergate scandal.[1] The film stars Liam Neeson, Diane Lane, Tony Goldwyn, and Maika Monroe.

Production
An untitled project about an FBI agent, Mark Felt, was announced in January 2006. The film was being written by Peter Landesman and being directed by Jay Roach for Universal Pictures and Playtone. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman were attached as producers.[2] On November 3, 2015, it was announced that Landesman would direct a spy thriller film, Felt, based on his own script about the FBI agent who was also an informant for Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Felt was known as Deep Throat.[3] Liam Neeson joined the film to play the titular role.[3] MadRiver Pictures would finance the film and also produce it along with Scott Free Productions, Playtone, and Cara Films, while producers would be Ridley Scott, Goetzman, Hanks, Giannina Scott, Marc Butan, Christopher Woodrow, Roach, and Landesman.[3] On November 5, 2015, Diane Lane was cast in the film to play the brilliant and troubled wife, Audrey, who shares the burden of Felt's dangerous struggle against the White House's Watergate scandal.[4] On November 6, 2015, Jason Bateman joined the film to play the role of an FBI agent and Felt lieutenant, Charlie Bates, who discovers that Felt is leaking classified information on the Watergate investigation.[5] On December 9, 2015, Maika Monroe also joined the cast for an unspecified role.[6] On April 29, 2016, a complete cast was announced; Tony Goldwyn to play FBI intel chief Ed Miller; Kate Walsh as Miller's wife, Pat; Josh Lucas as Charlie Bates; Michael C. Hall as John Dean; Marton Csokas and Tom Sizemore as Felt's rival FBI agents Pat Gray and Bill Sullivan, respectively; Wendi McLendon-Covey as Felt's secretary, Carol Tschudy; Ike Barinholtz as the head of the investigation, Angelo Lano; Bruce Greenwood as Time magazine reporter Sandy Smith; Brian d'Arcy James as FBI special agent Robert Kunkel; Noah Wyle as Stan Pottinger; Monroe as Felt's daughter, Joan; and Colm Meaney and Eddie Marsan as CIA agents.[7]
Principal photography on the film began on May 2, 2016, in Atlanta.[8][9]
