"Friends" is the second episode of season one of the UPN Television Network television series Moesha. The episode was written by Sara V. Finney and Vida Spears. It was the first episode not to be written by series creator Ralph Farquhar. It was also directed by Stan Lathan.
This episode featured many changes from the pilot. This episode featured a different house for the Mitchell's, which is used throughout the rest of the series. Moesha's friends, Gail and Trina, are also never heard of again. Shar Jackson plays a new character, Niecy Jackson.
Plot synopsis
Head cheerleader Ashli presents Moesha with the opportunity to try out for the cheerleading squad. Moesha is uninterested, however, aspiring cheerleader Kim asks Moesha to try out with her for moral support, which Moesha reluctantly agrees to. But when Kim makes the squad and Moesha doesn't, their friendship is tested. Meanwhile, Hakeem is preparing for the basketball team tryouts, and Frank learns that Dee is a little bit older than him and taunts her about it.
