G. Sudhakaran

G Sudhakaran is an Indian politician and the incumbent minister for public works in Government of Kerala. He belongs to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and represents Ambalappuzha constituency.

Biography

While a student, actively participated in politics. Was Best Speaker and Best Essayist in certain years among College and University Students of Kerala; joined C.P.I.(M) in 1967; became Joint Secretary of K.S.F; Office Bearer of K.S.Y.F. at State Level and District Level at Alappuzha and Kollam; Founder Member, First State President, General Secretary, All India Vice-President and one of the first members of the Central Executive Committee of S.F.I.; Member, Kerala University Syndicate for 12 years, C.P.I.(M) State Committee, C.I.T.U. State Executive Committee, C.P.I.(M) Kollam and Alappuzha District Committees and C.P.I.(M) District Secretariat, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and Industrial Relations Committee (IRC), Kuttanad; District Secretary C.P.I.(M), Alappuzha, First President, Alappuzha District Council; District Secretary, State Treasurer and ALl INdia Committee Member, Agricultural Workers Union.He was Alappuzha District President of C.I.T.U; President, Union of Kerala Spinners Limited (C.I.T.U); Scooters Kerala, K.S.D.P., Excel Glass, Lorry Transport Drivers and Cleaners Union, Alappuzha District Committee, Kuttanad Rice Cultivators Protection Convention, Tagore Memorial Comparative Literature Society; Member Executive Committee of K.A.U., Urban Development Bank, Alappuzha and Kayankulam Spinning Mill; Secretary, C.P.I.(M) Kuttanad Taluk; Chairman, Alappuzha District Co-operative Spinning Mill; District President, Head Load and General Workers Union, Alappuzha.He served as Minister of Co-operation, Coir and Devaswom during 12th Kerala Legislative Assembly & participated in various agitations and struggles, suffered police brutality and got imprisoned several times including imprisonment under Defence India Rule in Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail during Emergency Period. Now Member, C.P.I.(M), Alappuzha District Committee and State Committee. Previously elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1996 and 2006.

Personal life

G.Sudhakaran is born as son of P. Gopalakurup (deceased) and Smt L. Pankajakshi Amma at Vedaraplavu Thamarakulam Village, Mavelikkara, Alappuzha; he graduated in M.A. followed bt LLB.Sudhakaran got married to Dr.Jubilee Navaprabha. He has two children. His siblings included an elder brother named Vijayan (deceased), two younger brothers named Bhuvaneswaran (deceased) and Madhu and a younger sister named Thulasi.

Recreation  : Writing Poems, Essays and Short Stories, Reciting Poems. Literary Activities : Wrote about 55 poems and published in various weeklies like Manorama, Mangalam, Kala Kaumudi, Desabhimani, Madhyamam, Dailies like Deshabhimani and Kerala Kaumudi and Bhashaposhini Magazine. Wrote Short Stories etc.

Published many books including : 1. Aaranu nee Obama (Collection of Poems). 2. Unni Makane Manohara (Collection of Poems). 3. Sannithanathile Kazhuthakal (Collection of Poems). 4. Kanal Vazhiyil Kari Puralathe (Collection of Selected Niyamasabha Speeches).
