Collingwood's major influences are The Beatles, The Zombies, The Hollies, Aztec Camera, Squeeze, and Blue Öyster Cult.[2] He graduated from The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He lives with his wife in Northampton, Massachusetts. The couple married in 1996.
