Geoffrey Paterson
Geoffrey Paterson (born 14 July 1983) is a British conductor.
Career
Born in Kent, United Kingdom, Geoffrey Paterson was educated at The Judd School, St John's College, Cambridge, the RSAMD and the National Opera Studio.[1] At the age of 25 he won First Prize at the Ninth Leeds Conductors Competition.[2][3]
He was employed as a conductor at the Royal Opera House as part of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme.[4]
His freelance work includes engagements with Opera North,[5] Manchester Camerata[6] and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.[7]
He is also a composer and winner of the 2004 Sir Arthur Bliss Prize.[8] He is a noted exponent of contemporary music,[9][10] and in 2010 founded the Theseus Ensemble with the patronage of Pierre Boulez.[11]
