George Kreiss
George Kreiss (September 9, 1830 – May 10, 1907) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate.[1]
Biography
A French emigrant, Kreiss was born on September 9, 1830.[2] He settled in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1852[3] or 1857.[2] He died of lingering illness following a stroke.[3]
Career
Kreiss was a member of the Assembly during the 1864 session. Later, he represented the 22nd District in the Senate during the 1872 and 1873 sessions.[3] He also established the Appleton fire department and headed it for nine years.[3] In addition, Kreiss was part of the Appleton Common Council. He was a Democrat.
