Gil Puyat LRT Station (sometimes called Buendia LRT Station) is a station on the Manila LRT (LRT-1). Like all other LRT-1 stations, Gil Puyat station is above-ground. The station is located in Pasay and is named because the station lies immediately above Gil Puyat Avenue. The avenue itself is named for Gil Puyat, a late senator and statesman.
Gil Puyat station is the fourth station for trains headed to Roosevelt, the seventeenth station for trains headed to Baclaran, and is one of the four LRT stations serving Pasay, the others are Libertad, EDSA and Baclaran.
The station is a major transfer point for passengers bound for the Makati central business district.
Nearby landmarks
The station is near the famed Cartimar Shopping Center, known particularly for its pet stores, as well as a satellite campus of Arellano University and the campus of the Philippine Law School. It is also near Blessed Elena Academy, Pasay City Academy, Southeastern College, and the Manila Adventist Medical Center, formerly the Manila Sanitarium. The Philippine Senate building in the GSIS complex, the Philippine National Bank headquarters, World Trade Center Metro Manila and Star City in CCP Complex are also accessible from this station via taxi or jeepney. The EGI Mall and Atrium Suites are also situated nearby.
Transportation links
A bus terminal for both city and provincial buses lies beside the station. Buses that ply the Buendia (Gil Puyat) route stop there, as well as buses to Batangas, Laguna, Quezon and Marinduque. Buses that ply the Taft Avenue route also stop near the station.
Taxis, jeepneys, and auto rickshaws also stop near the station, serving commuters that live farther away from the station.
The nearest PNR and MRT stations are located further along Gil Puyat (Buendia), all located in Makati.
