Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993
Greece took part at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet, Ireland, represented by Katy Garbi with the song "Ellada, Chora Tou Fotos" (Ελλάδα, χώρα του φωτός). Garbi was selected internally by Ellinikí Radiofonía Tileórasi (ERT), the Greek broadcaster, to represent the country at the contest in Ireland.
At Eurovision
Garbi performed 6th on the night of the contest, following Denmark and preceding the Belgium. At the close of the voting the song had received 64 points, placing 9th in a field of 25. Despite the average placing, the song became a hit in Greece, being one of the most popular Greek entries. Garbis' dress became discussion topic, with some people claiming, that on that night, she wasn't wearing any underwear.
