HR.com is the largest social networking site dedicated to human resources professionals.[1]
HR.com members have access to articles, case studies, newsletters, polls, discussion forums, blogs, webcasts and other features. Majority of the content on HR.com is community generated. The site is "similar to Facebook, with a business community"[2] and allows HR professionals to share best practices and research techniques.[3]
HR.com is an HRCI approved provider.[4] and offers certification for HRCI ( SPHR/PHR) and for SHRM ( SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP) programs.
Company Background
HR.com Limited is a privately held company based out of Aurora, Canada.[5] HR.com was established in 1999 by Debbie McGrath who previously also set up CEO Group Inc., later sold to the Washington Post.[6] It was originally set up as an online magazine for HR professionals [7] but was subsequently turned into a social network. In 2007 the network underwent a significant upgrade and incorporated features such as blogs, wikis, forums, and other web 2.0 functionality.[8]
In October 2010 HR.com announced the launch of its own accreditation program, Institute for Human Resources (IHR).[9] The programs are focused on providing specialized niche training and allow participants to accumulate both IHR and HRCI credits.
Partnerships
HR.com partners with various industry providers to bundle human resources related services for its members. In some cases the bundles include full use and access to a partner program, while in others the members receive product discounts. Current partnerships include AthenaOnline, HR & Benefits Essentials, OrcaEyes,[10] PayScale,DDI/Opal, and others.
Other Industry Contributions
HR.com has conducted a number of industry surveys with results featured in trade publications such as CNY Business Journal,[11] Training & Development,[12] Canadian Manager,[13] Atlanta Business Chronicle.[14]
Debbie McGrath, the founder, was named one of the top 100 influencers in the HR field,[15] as well as one of top 100 Canadian Women Entrepreneurs by the PROFIT Magazine in 2005.[16]
