Hajl ibn Abdulmuttalib

Hajl ibn Abdulmuttalib was an uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

His original name was al-Mughira.[1]:100 He was the son of Abdulmuttalib ibn Hashim and of Hala bint Wuhayb. Hence he was a full-brother to Hamza, Safiya and al-Muqawwim.[1]:99–100[2]

Ibn Hisham attributes to him the by-name al-Ghaydaq "because of his great liberality and his wealth".[2] However, Ibn Saad asserts that it was his brother Musab who was known as al-Ghaydaq.[1]:100

His son Qurra called him "the stout Hajl, who is the head of the youth."[1]:101

Hajl and Qurra did not leave male-line descendants.[1]:101
