Henry Real Bird

Henry Real Bird (born July 24, 1948), a member of the Crow Nation,[1] grew up ranching on the battlegrounds of the Little Big Horn on the Crow Reservation in Montana. A former rodeo cowboy, appointed as Montana's Poet Laureate in 2009,[2] Henry still lives in and draws inspiration from the land of the Little and Big Horn Valleys.[3] Horses picture large in Henry’s creative work[4] and are the thread of his Rivers of Horse CD. In the summer of 2010, as Montana’s Poet Laureate, Henry traveled by horseback 415 miles to distribute books of poetry.[5]
