Herman C. E. Liu (Liu Zhan'en) was born in 1886, and died in 1938.[1] He was an educator, and civic leader in China. From 1928 to 1938, he was the first Chinese president of University of Shanghai. Liu was assassinated by the Japanese in 1938.
