The title Hero of the Republic of Cuba (Spanish: Héroe de la República de Cuba) is a distinction in Cuba, awarded for heroic feats in service to the Cuban state and society. It has been received by over forty individuals, also posthumously, including Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez, Juan Almeida Bosque, Leonid Brezhnev, Raúl Castro and the Cuban Five.[1]
