Hosseini infancy conference (Persian: همایش شیرخوارگان حسینی) is a mourning custom of Day of Ashura. It is held in first Friday of Muharram to commemorate the memory of Ali al-Asghar ibn Husayn, the six-month-old baby boy of Husayn ibn Ali and Umm Rubab, who was killed in battle of Karbala.
Overview
Hosseini infancy conference is a mourning custom of Day of Ashura to commemorate the memory of Ali al-Asghar ibn Husayn, the six-month-old baby boy of Husayn ibn Ali and Umm Rubab.[1][2] Ali al-Asghar was the youngest one who was killed in battle of Karbala.
Aim of conference
According to the report of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the aim of holding of Hosseini infancy conference is to promote the teaching of event of Ashura.[3]
Time and place
For first time, this conference held in 2003, after that in every year mourners congregate it on the first Friday of Muharram in nationwide of Iran and 40 countries include, Iraq, Pakistan, Bahrain, India, and Turkey.[3]
The thirteenth Hosseini infancy conference commemorate in Musalla of Tehran and other city such as Mashhad,[4][5] Alborz,[6] Khorramabad,[7] and Qom in Jamkaran mosque.[8]
Clothing
At the conference, mothers dress her babies by special green and white cloth like cloth of Ali al-Asghar ibn Husayn. Babies wear a headband that the name of Ali al-Asghar ibn Husayn is written on it.[3]
