The Housing and Home Finance Agency was composed of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the Public Housing Administration, the Home Loan Bank Board, the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA), the Community Facilities Administration (CFA), the Urban Renewal Administration (URA), and the Federal Flood Indemnity Administration.[1]
It consolidated the United States Housing Authority, Home Owners' Loan Corporation, the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation, the Federal Housing Administration, the Defense Homes Corporation, and the United States Housing Corporation. It acquired the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) from the Federal Loan Agency as a constituent unit in 1950.
It was created by the Reorganization Plan No. 3 of 1947 authorized under the Reorganization Act of 1945. It was superseded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development by the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965.
