Ichud HaKehillos LeTohar HaMachane
The Ichud HaKehillos LeTohar HaMachane (Union of Communities for the Purity of the Camp) is an Orthodox Jewish organization. It educates Jews about internet addiction, pornography-use habits and other problems that can result from Internet usage.[1]
The Ichud HaKehillos founded a division called TAG (Technology Awareness Group).[2] It provides various services to its target market, including installing and configuring Web filtering and monitoring software on computers, smartphones and other devices. TAG is a Nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers, and there is no fee for any of its services. TAG has offices in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and elsewhere; TAG also provides certain services worldwide using Remote desktop software. As of October 2016, TAG operates 34 offices globally.[3] In total, TAG fields about 1000 phone calls from around the world every day.
Notable conventions
To help promote awareness of the issues at hand Ichud HaKehillos has organised many gatherings to combat internet addiction and abuse. On September 27, 2005, a gathering was held in Lakewood days before Rosh Hashana.[4] The leaders enacted a policy that children that may have internet access are subject to being dismissed from any private school in Lakewood. On May 20, 2012 a gathering was held in Flushing, Queens of New York City to promote the use of filters and further raise awareness. The rally was held at Citi Field and Arthur Ashe Stadium. Over 60000 people attended.
