Ishaq bin Ali al-Rohawi

Ishaq Rohawi was one of the physicist of the school of Roha, one of the eminent schools during the history of Islamic philosophy. He wrote the famous book of politeness of physician.[1]

introduction

There is little known of his life. Ibn Abi Osayba in Oyun, refers to his famous book namely Adab Tabib or politness of physician only.[2] But it seems that he lived during the third century Lunar Hijrah. Ibn Abi Osayba known Ishaq as one who is skillful in physics of Galen.

He refers in the book to Persian word about medicine in early periods such as Dastkari (insurgury).[3] Also this book counted as oldest work in the field of Medical ethics in islam. He insisted that a medicine must have belief in God and also some ethical characters like a generous behaviours with sicks and good relation with them.[4] He reported many sayings from Isa Ibn Maseh, who was contemporarian with Ishaq.[5]
