Jake Arnold Fraley (born May 25, 1995) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Hudson Valley Renegades, a Single A short-season team of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Career

Fraley attended Caravel Academy in Bear, Delaware,[1] where he played for their baseball team. He batted .536 as a junior and .492 as a senior, and in his senior year was named to Louisville Slugger's All-American first team and the All-State first team.[2]

After aggressive recruitment, Fraley enrolled at Louisiana State University (LSU) to play college baseball for the LSU Tigers. He batted .372 as a freshman in 2014, and was named a Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.[3] He played collegiate summer baseball for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League after his Freshman and Junior years.[4][5]

The Tampa Bay Rays selected Fraley with the 77th overall selection of the 2016 MLB draft.[6] He spent the 2016 season with the Hudson Valley Renegades and finished the 2016 season batting .238 with 33 stolen bases.[7]

Personal life

Fraley is from Middletown, Delaware.[1] He is a devout Catholic.[8] His younger brother, Brandon, is also a baseball player who attended Caravel Academy.[9]
