John Daversa

John Daversa (b. Canoga Park, California, October 2, 1972) is an American jazz trumpeter, EVI (Electric Valve Instrument) player, composer, arranger, big band leader and educator, currently residing in Miami, Florida. He is equally active in the areas of performance, composing/arranging, and music education.[1]

Daversa is Chair of Studio Music and Jazz at University of Miami, Frost School of Music and directs the Frost Concert Jazz Band.[2] He regularly performs with the John Daversa Progressive Big Band, John Daversa Small Band and is a guest conductor and soloist all over the world.[1]

Daversa has played/recorded with a wide variety of artists ranging from Fiona Apple, Burt Bacharach, Joe Cocker, Andraé Crouch, Gin, Herbie Hancock, Holiday On Ice, Bob Mintzer Big Band,[3] Renee Olstead, Regina Spektor, Andy Williams, and The Yellowjackets, and his playing has been featured on film and television including The Five-Year Engagement, Key and Peele, (Season 3, Episode 10 - Jazz Duel), King of Queens, and Promised Land[4][5]

John Daversa has recorded many notable albums as a leader including Junk Wagon: The Big Band Album, Artful Joy, Live at Catalina's, and Kaleidoscope Eyes: Music of The Beatles.[4][6]
