John Jay Homestead State Historic Site is a site in Katonah, New York. The homestead is also known as Bedford House or as John Jay House. It was the home of statesman John Jay, first Chief Justice of the United States.
The site is located on Jay Street (State Route 22), south of the intersection with State Route 137 and Maple Avenue.
In 1977, Friends of John Jay Homestead - a non-profit member organization, was founded to increase public appreciation and awareness of John Jay Homestead State Historic Site and to support and contribute to the New York state work in the site, by raising funds and providing volunteer assistance for John Jay Homestead’s preservation, restoration and interpretation, among others.
The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1981.[2][3]
