Joshua Edward Doherty is a footballer who plays for Leyton Orient. The full back, who can also play in midfield.
Career
Watford
A Watford youth products graduate, Doherty signed his first scholarships with the club in April 2012.[4]
Doherty made his debut on 3 May 2014, coming on as a substitute in the 80th minute in the 4–1 defeat against Huddersfield Town.[5] On 14 May 2014, Doherty signed his first professional contract after completing his scholarship.[6] However, his first team chances was soon limited, as well as, the club's reserve no longer available.[7]
On 3 June 2016, it was announced that Doherty would leave Watford upon his contract expiry.[8]
Leyton Orient
On 6 June 2016, Doherty joined League Two side Leyton Orient on a one-year deal.[9]
International career
Having represented Northern Ireland U17[10] and Northern Ireland U19 levels,[11] Doherty was called by Northern Ireland U21. Doherty, who grew up in Newtownards where his family still live became known to football through his younger days playing for his home town Ards youth Fc now known as Ards Fc Academy. Josh, knowing his football talent was special, left school after completing his GCSE's to sign for the Watford Academy.
