KLPac Sinfonietta
The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre Orchestra (klpac Orchestra) is an amateur symphony orchestra located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It presents performances at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), which fosters creative excellence and develops and nurtures a performing arts culture in Malaysia. At the time that the Centre was proposed a music conservatory was part of the proposal, but the cost proved to be too high at that time.
Klpac became the home base of the orchestra, in order to cater for the growing number of classically trained music students and amateurs. The first auditions were held in October 2006, and appealed to a wide range of music students and music teachers as well as professional musicians. The orchestra's debut concert in December 2006 was "Candlelight Christmas", conducted by Resident Conductor Brian Tan with guest choir, La Voce. Its final performance was enthusiastically received.
The Centre is able to provide training and provide performing opportunities since it has a well-equipped rehearsal and performance spaces which is supported by management and marketing. In setting up the orchestra, klpac hopes to provide enriching and engaging musical experiences for people with varying musical backgrounds. The creation of klpac Orchestra provide opportunities in the Klang Valley for aspiring musicians and those seeking an outlet for musical expression. At the same time, it helps to promote orchestral music.
